WASHINGTON — Win Without War Director Stephen Miles released the following statement regarding renewed House and Senate efforts to end the U.S. role in the war in Yemen:

“We strongly support renewed House and Senate efforts to finally put an end to the unauthorized U.S. role in the Saudi-led coalition’s military intervention in Yemen.

“Last month’s unprecedented Senate vote reasserting its war-making powers by directing Trump to withdraw from the conflict demonstrated that pressure worked to influence the executive branch and help get the parties to the table for peace negotiations. With the Democratic House now willing to act and the Senate expected to take up and pass the legislation again, we are hopeful that we can once and for all end U.S. military assistance to the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen. More than 200,000 Win Without War activists called on their representatives to end the war in the last Congress, and they stand ready to support them today.

“The humanitarian crisis in Yemen remains dire with 14 million people on the brink of starvation. We must stop enabling the continuation of this crisis by ending U.S. military involvement and putting the full force of the United States government behind finding an inclusive peace settlement to the conflict. Yemen can’t wait.”
