Sara Haghdoosti announced as Executive Director of Win Without War and Win Without War Education Fund
WASHINGTON — Win Without War and Win Without War Education Fund are thrilled to announce that, as of January 1st, current Deputy Director Sara Haghdoosti will become Executive Director of both organizations. Current Executive Director, Stephen Miles, will be moving to the newly-formed position of President. In her new role, Sara will oversee all day-to-day operations and strategic campaigning of the organization, while Stephen will focus on thought leadership and working to support and broaden the larger progressive foreign policy ecosystem.
During more than a decade with Win Without War, Stephen has held numerous roles, serving for the past five and a half years as the organization’s Executive Director. Under his leadership, Win Without War has grown into one of the largest and most respected progressive organizations focused on U.S. foreign policy and national security.
Sara joined Win Without War in 2020 and has served since then as the organization’s Deputy Director and Senior Strategist. She previously worked as the Director of Campaigns at the Mozilla Foundation and was co-founder of Berim (‘Let’s go!’ in Farsi), a U.S.-based organization that worked to support change-makers in Iran.
“I’m incredibly excited for Sara’s leadership and vision for the next phase of our work fighting for a more peaceful, progressive U.S. foreign policy. During her time as Deputy Director, Sara has consistently been a strategic leader across all of our issues, while pushing forward our equity work to help tackle the systemic challenges we face as a movement, as an organization, and as individuals,” said Stephen Miles.
“As a Muslim Iranian-American (via Sydney!), I’m incredibly honored to take on this role. Win Without War has always been fearless in naming the deeply broken nature of our foreign policy, and I’m excited to help lead our talented team as they continue to push to end the failed status quo,” said Sara Haghdoosti.
“In the face of a global pandemic that has killed millions and the existential threat of climate change, the United States foolishly continues to funnel money into fighter jets that don’t fly, flood the world with weapons of war, and prioritize military misadventures over the diplomatic solutions we desperately need.
“It’s clear that our work at Win Without War is more important than ever, and I look forward to adding my voice and vision for a more peaceful, progressive foreign policy that focuses on solving problems, righting wrongs, and working with communities impacted by the actions of the U.S. military.”
