Trump reportedly says terror attack could help GOP
Win Without War Director Stephen Miles issued the following statement regarding a report that Donald Trump believes that Republicans’ electoral prospects in 2018 would benefit from a domestic terror attack:
Donald Trump reportedly suggesting that the Republicans would benefit in the 2018 midterm elections from a terrorist attack on the United States is appalling and an outrageous affront to the American people.
That Trump would welcome dead Americans to cover for the Republicans’ policy failures is just another grotesque example of how his own interests take priority over the security and well-being of the American people and the world.
If this report is accurate, every American, and indeed, people around the world — given the crises Trump has created with North Korea and elsewhere — should be worried that Trump views national security through the prism of his own personal power and prestige.
Someone who reportedly talks wistfully of the September 11th terror attacks as having salvaged one of his predecessor’s political fortunes should have no business holding the precious responsibility of keeping the United States secure.
